Statement from the Nova Scotia Drag Racers Association
After thoughtful consideration NSDRA has determined that it will not be opening Greenfield Dragway this season. Many factors go into this decision but there are two major concerns leading to this conclusion.
• Greenfield Dragway relies heavily on its volunteers to execute an event. We have many that are still not comfortable with larger gathering and personal contact. The directors completely understand and would never put our volunteers in that situation.
• The financial risk. As an association we have limited funds. We cannot risk the future well-being of our track by forcing a few mediocre events in 2020. Many competition vehicles have been parked for the season so a small number of entries is very possible. Couple this with a “No Spectator” model and the opportunity for revenue is very limited.
The directors of NSDRA are racers also, so we want to be on-track competing, and in the pits socializing with our racing friends and family as much as anyone. This is a tough decision to make but it is a decision made with rational thought and not from emotion.
We sincerely wish all racers, sponsors, volunteers, supporters and their respective families good health and safety. Please enjoy a summer with your family and friends and maybe even cross a few things off the honey-do list. We look forward to strong rebound for local drag racing in 2021!
Take care,
The Directors of NSDRA
There will be a General Meeting of the NSDRA, it will be held at the Best Western Plus in Bridgewater (#527 Highway #10) (Meeting room to be determined) on November 2, 2019. The meeting will begin at 1:00 pm.
We will be reviewing the 2019 season and making plans for the 2020 season.
Members wishing to pay their 2020 memberships will be able to do so before the meeting starts. New members wishing to join may do so at the same time. People will be available starting around 12:45 pm or after the conclusion of the meeting for those wishing to pay their dues.
Please spread the word around about the meeting.

16th Annual Greenfield Dragway Bracket Bash…Big Dollar Bracket Event Includes Top Sportsman/Top Dragster, Stock/Superstock Series & Junior Dragster Shootout!
The 16th Annual SUPER SATURDAY BRACKET BASH goes August 24th at Greenfield Dragway. This annual big dollar event continues to draw each year with 162 entries in 2018. Almost $14,000 was paid out last year with pay-outs extending back to the Round of 16! We saw Bill Sheppard take home $3600 for the win in No Box and Josh Goodwin pocket $3200 for his Box victory!
Here are the Super Saturday specifics and payout structure examples (keeping in mind the # of entries and final sponsorship amounts may change the purse for the winner and runner-up. Semi, quarter and round of 16 payouts are set amounts).
Event Hi-Lights:
- Entry fee is $40
- Box and No Box (Delay box/device must be removed from vehicle, this includes adj buttons)
- Open to all race vehicles, including motorcycle and snowmobile
- First round losers can enter the buy-back round for $20
- Buy-back round winners will then merge into Round 2 of the eliminator
- Random pairing until quarterfinals then laddered based-on previous round reaction time
- Bye-runs during random pairing determined by best RT in previous round.
- A competitor can only receive one bye-run during random pairing.
- Double entry permitted (Box and No Box)
- All entry fee and sponsor money is paid-out
- Payouts extend back to round of 16!
- $1000 Junior Dragster Shootout, A and B ladder…NO ENTRY FEE!
- Racer’s & Volunteer appreciation BBQ Saturday evening
Pay-out Structure:
In both classes’ semi-final losers win $400, quarter-final losers get $200 and round of 16 losers earn $100 each. These are set amounts regardless of car count. The remaining funds are split with 70% to the winner and 30% to the runner-up in each class. Also, the sponsorship money is split 60/40 between Box and No Box.
Here are two examples based on the traditional # of entries for this race:
Box Class with 60 entries:
60 entries x $40= $2400
Estimated 20 buy-backs x $20= $400
Sponsor funds (60% of $6000) = $3600
Total purse in Box = $6400
*Box winner: $2800
* Runner-up: $1200 Semi-final finish: $400 Quarter-final finish: $200 Round of 16 (or less) finish: $100 Will vary based on # of entries
No Box Class with 100 entries:
90 entries x $40= $3600
Estimated 35 buy-backs x $20= $700
Sponsor funds (40% of $6000) = $2400
Total purse in No Box = $6700
*No Box winner: $3010
*Runner-up: $1290 Semi-final losers: $400 Quarter-final losers: $200 Round of 16 (or less) losers: $100 *Will vary based on # of entries
