What's New

Attention Racers and Crew:

You may have saw our earlier announcement that we can now accept spectators and new entries for the last race October 16-17.  As of October 4th Nova Scotia has entered Phase 5 of the re-opening plan which removes gathering limits for events…this is fantastic news!

This news does come with one major stipulation that ANY AND ALL organized events must ask for proof of FULL vaccination for anyone 12 years of age or older to participate; this goes for all spectators, participants, staff and volunteers.  This is a province-wide order within the provincial health act with no exception.

When you arrive at the raceway you will be asked by gate staff to provide proof of full vaccination to enter the premises.  PLEASE REMEMBER, these are not our rules so BE NICE and please have patience. 😊

What is Full Vaccination?

A person is considered fully vaccinated 14 days or more after receiving your second dose.  For the purposes of this race you would need to have received your second dose no later than October 2 for Friday arrivals, October 3 for Saturday arrivals and October 4 for Sunday arrivals to the Dragway.

BIG NEWS…SPECTATORS WELCOME FOR OCTOBER 16-17 WEEKEND!!!

Its been a long wait but just in time for our final race of the season WE CAN NOW HAVE SPECTATORS !

October 16-17 is the season finale and here is your chance to FINALLY get your drag racing fix!

Event details will be announced in the coming days but it’s going to be a great weekend of racing action you will not want to miss!

As per provincial regulation for phase 5, proof of full vaccination is required and we will provide more detail on that so you know what do bring.

RACERS- We will be accepting new entries at the gate, no need to pre-register! Racers and crew also need to provide for proof of vaccination at the gate.

STAY TUNED THIS WEEK AND WE’LL PROVIDE COMPLETE EVENT DETAILS…SEE YOU THERE!

UPDATE: Unfortunately, the weather forecast is not co-operating for this weekend folks so we will postpone the race and re-schedule for OCTOBER 16-17!

We have had a fantastic return to the track and we want to end it on a positive note. Many have wanted an October race for years, this is not the way we planned it…but here it is! Cooler temperatures will make for a fast track!

 *******Please read as things change*******

 **NO SPECTATORS ARE PERMITTED YET**

First off I want to say a big Thank You to you the racers for your patience and cooperation on our first attempt at pre registration and our first race after 21 months. While things weren't perfect  I seen more smiles than I think I ever saw at a race track.... and pre registration went as well as I ever dreamed, so again Thank you.... 😊

As of Tuesday 27, 2021 Nova Scotia has an outdoor gathering limit of 250 people. While this is a pain it is allowing us to go racing. So for Race 2 there will be again a pre-registration only format with 250 racers and crew aloud. (NO SPECTATORS WILL BE ALLOWED AT RACE 2 ).

With 3 different series coming to town for this race it's highly unlikely they'll be room for extra crew like last race. If there is I'll relay that to you guys.....tks.

SCHEDULE UPDATE- With the province now releasing their re-opening plan, it appears that in Phase 4, mid July we will have workable gathering limits. Therefore, we will move our season opener to July 23-25 weekend. As we get deeper into June we'll communicate the race format.

Here is the amended schedule:

July 23-25 Season opener, format TBD
August 6-8 Including ACSSA double, Pro Tree, ADRA
August 27-29 Including Bracket Bash, TS/TD
September 24-26 Including ACSSA double, ADRA
SO MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW FOR JULY 23-25!

UPDATE: Greenfield Dragway Opener Moved to July 2-4 Weekend

With the Provincial lockdown in place until the end of May here in Nova Scotia, the season opener at Greenfield will be pushed ahead to the scheduled July 2-4 weekend; the weekend format will be determined closer to event.

Hopefully by early days of June we will have a better understanding of gathering limits and travel restriction that will dictate the look of the first race. We will communicate the plan at that point in time.
We are excited to get going but must wait just a little bit longer. So, take advantage of the extra preparation time and be ready to roll when the time comes.

Stay safe and we’ll see you all soon!

The Annual General Meeting of the NSDRA will be held Thursday April 8th at The Bridgewater Best Western hotel at 7 pm. Membership dues can be paid before meeting. Masks will be required, as well as following other public health guidelines. Hope to see you there!

NSDRA will host an information session for Greenfield Dragway on Wednesday November 11th at 7pm at the Best Western Bridgewater, 527 Highway 10 at exit 12. Please wear your mask until you are seated in the meeting room. As this is a general information session both members and non-members are welcome to attend.

Purpose of the meeting is to provide an update for the 2021 season and to give some general direction. The meeting will allow open discussion and we will have the floor open for questions, ideas and suggestions.

We are looking forward to seeing to there!

Statement from the Nova Scotia Drag Racers Association

After thoughtful consideration NSDRA has determined that it will not be opening Greenfield Dragway this season. Many factors go into this decision but there are two major concerns leading to this conclusion.

• Greenfield Dragway relies heavily on its volunteers to execute an event. We have many that are still not comfortable with larger gathering and personal contact. The directors completely understand and would never put our volunteers in that situation.

• The financial risk. As an association we have limited funds. We cannot risk the future well-being of our track by forcing a few mediocre events in 2020. Many competition vehicles have been parked for the season so a small number of entries is very possible. Couple this with a “No Spectator” model and the opportunity for revenue is very limited.

The directors of NSDRA are racers also, so we want to be on-track competing, and in the pits socializing with our racing friends and family as much as anyone. This is a tough decision to make but it is a decision made with rational thought and not from emotion.

We sincerely wish all racers, sponsors, volunteers, supporters and their respective families good health and safety. Please enjoy a summer with your family and friends and maybe even cross a few things off the honey-do list. We look forward to strong rebound for local drag racing in 2021!

Take care,
The Directors of NSDRA
